“After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.” Philip Pullman

A friend took this photo of me a year ago in Central Park. It’s a place I go often now that I live in New York City, but not so long ago I lived in Paris. That’s where I discovered the story told in my most recent book, Odette’s Secrets. You can read more about it by clicking above on the beautiful cover above, or on the BOOKS page.

I have been discovering and writing down stories all my life. More than 25 of them have been published as books for children and young teenagers. I have also spent many happy hours reading and talking to children, teachers, librarians, parents and other writers at schools, libraries, universities and conferences. Stories are where my heart is. Stories can save us.
